Our Veterinary Support Staff
Megan joined the team in 2006 after graduating from the Veterinary Administrative Assistant program. During her program she completed her work term and gained the knowledge and experience to become an integrated member of the team. Since graduating, she can be seen performing duties in various areas of the hospital. Megan is often seen at the main reception desk and heard on the telephone. Having almost 10 years experience in veterinary medicine, Megan has gained many skill sets including client service and veterinary nursing.
Samantha - Registered Veterinary Technician
Samantha is a registered veterinary technician and also the newest member of the BHVH team! She graduated from Dalhousie Agriculture Campus' Veterinary Technology program in May of 2015. Her duties include assisting with surgery, monitoring patients under anesthesia, producing radiographs, laboratory testing, regular maintenance, patient treatments, and assisting the veterinarians. She currently lives in Cole Harbour with her boyfriend Shawn, and her 2 cats Milo and Gizmo. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and also visiting with relatives in Cape Breton. She is dedicated to providing the best care for every patient and every pet owner at Bedford Highway Veterinary Hospital.
Chantel- Veterinary Assistant
Chantel is a veterinary assistant and has been with the BHVH team for over a year. She has been working as a veterinary assistant for 2 years, and graduated from the veterinary assistant program at Maritime Business College in 2012. Originally from Cape Breton, she moved to HRM in 2005 with her family.
Chantel spent 8 years in the sport of sprint kayaking, competing locally, nationally, and internationally. Currently she spends her free time going for off-leash trail walks with her 2 dogs Milo and Sophie, spending time with and riding her equine friend Annie, and caring for her 3 pet rats Anna, Elsa, and Rori.
As with all of our team, Chantel rotates between client care on the front desk, and assisting with patients. She enjoys working with every client and patient!
Rilla is our newest feline addition to the practice. She was rushed in to us as a stray kitten by a good samaritan after being almost hit by a car. She thanked us by giving most of the staff ringworm, and she 'grew on us' after that. She now supervises the staff and greets clients.
Peach - (In memory)
Many of you will remember Peach, our clinic cat, who was with us from 2005 until 2013. She had many fans, some who would just come to visit her or drop off presents for her from time to time. She is greatly missed.
As the accountant here at Bedford Highway Veterinary I have the distinction of meeting our furry clients. I love this opportunity, as each and every animal is very special. As a child growing up, I always wanted to work in a veterinary hospital but instead chose finance as my designation. Now I get to do both of the things I love.
I came to the clinic in June of 2005 and have been an employee for 13 years now. The staff members here are the best.
In my spare time I love to camp, swim in our new pool, read and am an avid volunteer with Kin Canada (Kinsmen and Kinettes). I am married to Wade and have two children Steven and Nicholas. We have one beloved cat Kiddy who we adopted in 2007.
