Diagnostic Services

Our hospital is fully equipped with state of the art laboratory, radiographic, and ultrasonic diagnostic equipment.

Laboratory

Through a partnership with Idexx Canada, we offer the very latest in in-house diagnostic laboratory equipment.  Blood work on your pet is available usually within minutes.  Other in house testing available includes complete urinalysis, fecal analysis, cytology, blood cell analysis (hematology), parasite identification (including ticks), and infectious disease diagnosis including heartworm, Lyme disease, other tick borne diseases, and Giardia.  Other more specialized tests are sent to outside reference laboratories, usually with overnight service.

Radiography

Our facility is equipped with modern radiography equipment to allow for rapid diagnoses of your pets problems. We can also screen for hereditary diseases such as canine hip dysplasia.  Through a partnership with a telemedicine service, we have access to radiologists to provide specialist advice for difficult problems.  

Ultrasonography

Our hospital is equipped with a GE Logiq e diagnostic ultrasound machine.  We offer diagnostic ultrasounds to our own clients as well as referral ultrasounds for other veterinary facilities in Nova Scotia.  Ultrasound allows detailed examinations and testing of abdominal organs, muscular-tendinous problems and even ocular diseases.
