Dr. Jim Gillis
Dr. Gillis has been a veterinarian at Bedford Highway Veterinary Hospital since 2005. He first obtained a degree in marine biology from Dalhousie University and then obtained his DVM degree at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 1993. Dr. Gillis loves all aspects of small animal medicine. He has special interests in cancer medicine and orthopedic surgery and has been performing cranial cruciate repairs in dogs and cats for 30 years. He is still involved in aquatic animal medicine and has worked with marine mammals including harbour and grey seals, bottlenose dolphins, endangered green sea turtles, and many species of fish. He and Dr. DeYoung share their home with Kingston the Golden Retriever and O'Mallie the rescued cat. He has lived in all three maritime provinces, but calls metro Halifax home
